To provide students with additional opportunities to broaden and enrich their educations, Black Hawk College offers a variety of concentrations. A concentration consists of a minimum of 12 credits of specialized coursework in a particular discipline. Concentrations may be completed as a way to give a coherent pattern to elective credits, to expand transfer options aligned with a degree pathway, to prepare for upper division coursework, or simply to explore certain subjects in greater depth. Students enrolled in either the 60-credit Associate in Arts or the Associate in Science degree programs will have the option of selecting a concentration or the standard program.
