The Music Industry Certificate (MIC) curricula is designed to provide the basic skill set required for local, regional, or national entry-level employment in a variety of music-industry related settings. This certificate is intended for students seeking to start a career in the music business or mucic technology after comleteting the program.
Students may find positions with audio production companies, music marketing and sales companies, record companies, arts management firms, music publishing companies, music festival promoters, music recording studios or music production companies, advertising agencies, video game companies or works as a freelance artist. Students interested in transferring to complete a four-year bachelor’s degree in a more specialized aspect of the music industry should review the transfer degrees in the catalog under the Associate in Arts degree (AA).
Students completing this program will be able to:
- Produce semiprofessional-quality portfolio of audio project using relevant tools.
- Develop a comprehensive understanding of business practices within the music industry.
- Understand and identify key principles of music theory.
- Examine a variety of musical styles and works across different genres.
- Study and perfom on an instrument or voice in a public setting.
