HIM 259 - Proced & Diagnosis Coding III This course provides advanced medical coding instruction using CPT-4, ICD-10, and HCPCS Level II coding systems. Students focus on coding for inpatient and outpatient services, including APC and DRG assignments for hospital claims. The course emphasizes accurate code selection, compliance with billing and reimbursement regulations, and the integration of supporting documentation from medical records. Practical exercises introduce students to claim preparation and the use of standard forms, such as the CMS-1500, to reinforce real-world coding applications.
Prerequisite HIM 249 , HIM 254 , HIM 255 and HIM 258 ”C” or better
